  • Course Description

    This course covers the responsibilities of individuals who are required to do work near powerlines or electrical apparatus in working safely as a non-electrical worker.


    Completing the course will provide an individual with the skills and knowledge to stay safe and understand compliance requirements for safe approach distances for the worker, plant, tools and equipment and consists of real-life practical skills and knowledge to allow the participant to be able to identify and mitigate hazards in their working environment.


    Due to the high-risk nature of the industry, the program is regarded as a mandatory requirement for specific industries in which employees are required develop or maintain their professional skills.

  • Units Being Delivered

    The following units will be included in your certificate:

    • UETDREL006 - Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
  • Entry Requirements

    • Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including CPR (Important note: In order to issue an accredited certificate CPR must be performed on the floor and and rescue breathing techniques demonstrated on manikins, with no exemptions).
    • Physical fitness – Participants must have the physical capacity to complete a practical demonstration of a simulated LV panel rescue.
    • Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies. Attendees must have completed their own online pre-course work (if applicable) prior to attending the face-to-face training day. If any applicant has not completed the online pre-course work, they will be unable to attend the session. This may incur further charges or cancellation fees.
    • ID is required 
    • A Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number. This is required prior to enrolments being processed. To obtain a USI number, please go to www.usi.gov.au to register.
  • Course Schedule

    Step 1: Enhanced Online Learning  - Completed at your own pace, prior to the face-to-face training sessions. 


    Step 2: Face-to-face training and assessment (minimum duration 45 minutes) 

  • Assessment

    Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.


    Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

    • Prepare to work safely on two occasions and respond to an incident
    • Complete Risk Assessment Forms
    • Complete an Incident Report

    Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
