  • Course Details

    HMC Group Solutions has been approved to deliver the SafeWork NSW 5 day HSR Training and 1 day Refresher Training in NSW. This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil their role as a Health and Safety Representative (HSR) in New South Wales. 


    HSR’s in New South Wales are entitled to attend this SafeWork NSW approved five day training course within three months of making a request for such training to their PCBU (person conducting a business or undertaking). Employers are required to allow the HSR to take time off work to attend this training. HSR’s are also entitled to attend one day refresher courses every twelve months, commencing one year after the initial five day course has been completed (as per Work Health and Safety Act 2011).


    Participants who successfully complete all sessions of the HSR training will receive a SafeWork NSW Health and Safety Representative Training Statement of Attendance and a copy of the Statement of Attendance will also be issued to the students direct PCBU.

  • Entry Requirements

    Participants must:

    • attend all sessions to be eligible for a Certificate of Attendance
    • wear enclosed footwear for practical sessions
    • provide 100 points of identification, original documents must be provide. ID documents must include photo identification, date of birth, signature and current address
    • complete a SafeWork evaluation form at the end of the training

  • Course Schedule

    Initial face to face HSR Training:

    Face-2-Face - 5 days training minimum duration: 35 hours


    Refresher HSR training:

    Face-2-Face - 1 day training minimum duration: 7 hours


  • Assessment

    This course is a non-accredited course & has no formal assessment. Informal assessment will take place based on participant attendance & student engagement. The facilitator will act as the Assessor in this process. 


  • Outcome

    The following will be included in your certificate of attendance:


    Day 1 - Workplace Health & Safety framework

    Day 2 - Consultation, Representation & Participation

    Day 3 - Role of the HSR in issue resolution & minimising risks

    Day 4 - Inspections, Notifiable incidents & incident investigation

    Day 5 - Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs) & Ceasing unsafe work

  • Learner rights, responsibilities and support, including complaints
