Entry requirements:

Participants must be 16 years and over. 

Participants must have the physical capacity to be able to meet the demands of the practical skills demonstration.

Participants must have sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy (LLN) and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course (please contact HMC Group solutions for LLN options).

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number is required prior to enrolments being processed. To obtain a USI number, please go to www.usi.gov.au to register.

Employment within the drilling industry or have prior experiences within the industry that can be verified

Course duration:

Participants have 24 months to complete the qualification from commencement of the course.

Requirements for completion of the qualification:

The following provides the packaging rules for this qualification, a list of relevant units of competency can be found on www.training.gov.au.
Total number of units = 13
8 core units plus
5 elective units, of which:
at least one (1) must be chosen from Group A whose unit title begins with 'Conduct'
at least one (1) unit may be chosen from Group B
no more than two (2) units may be chosen from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

All elective units selected from outside this qualification must reflect current occupational and learning outcomes of this AQF qualification level.

There are no prerequisites to imported units listed in this qualification. Where a unit is imported as an elective care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified are complied with.

Assessment requirements:

Individuals undertaking this course will complete it through an RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) process which may include both written and practical assessment tasks.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process which assesses an individual’s formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which the individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial, or total completion of, a nationally recognised qualification.

As part of the RPL assessment process, the Trainer/Assessor may determine extra training is required in one or more units to achieve the whole qualification.

You will need to provide a range of evidence to assist your assessor to make a decision about your competence. The types of evidence you may be asked to provide can include:

• Letters of reference
• Videos or photos of your work 
• Workplace documents
• Transcripts or assessments from related previous qualifications
