Participants must be 18 years and over

Participants must have:

  • the physical capacity to be able to meet the demands of the practical skills demonstration
  • sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course
  • a Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number. This is required prior to enrolments being processed. To obtain a USI number, please go to to register
  • enclosed shoes
  • 100 points of identification as prescribed by the SafeWork NSW - Evidence of Identity requirements                                (  on the first day of training and on the day of the assessment. Original documents must be provided. Students will be issued with SafeWork NSW - Evidence of identity requirements form upon enrolment

Payment for individual participants is upfront, group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and HMC Group Solutions -

Face to Face - 8 hours training plus self directed / workplace based study & 1 day SafeWork Assessment


The SafeWork Licensing Assessment:

  • must be conducted by an approved SafeWork Assessor
  • plant utilised for assessment must comply with AS2359 Powered industrial trucks
  • assessment must be conducted in the English language
  • assessment will include written questions, calculations and practical demonstration.


Please note that enrolment to this course is made with Forklift Training & Licensing Pty Ltd RTO 91548. Please refer to the student handbook located on the RTO website for all details relating to rights and responsibilities including complaints and appeals. 


This course is designed to give participants the skills and knowledge to safely operate a forklift truck in accordance with all relevant legislative requirements including:
  • Plan, prepare and perform work tasks 
  • Clean up work area


Assessment will take place on more than one occasion over the duration of the course with an opportunity to learn and practice skills and knowledge between each assessment. Assessment tasks may include written assessment, oral questioning, workplace observation & demonstration of techniques in the workplace or simulated workplace. 

Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a High Risk Work Licence to operate a forklift truck.

A successful candidate will achieve a SafeWork notice of satisfactory assessment (NSA) which will be issued upon successful completion of SafeWork licensing assessment, this is valid for 60 days. All successful candidates must lodge application within 60 days at a NSW Australia Post outlet with the following:

  • original copy of NSA form (blue/white copy)
  • application for a National Licence to perform high risk work 
  • original and acceptable evidence of identity documents totalling at least 100 points as prescribed by SafeWork NSW - Evidence of identity requirements 
  • colour, passport sized photo
  • prescribed fee
